Tamil Nadu Public Works Minister Velu has stated that if the bribery allegations in the Public Works Department are confirmed with evidence, strict action will be taken against the guilty parties.

Speaking in Madurai, he highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, including a Rs. 190 crore elevated flyover under construction in Koripalayam, Madurai, which is expected to be inaugurated by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on December 7.

The flyover work is slated for completion by January.Velu said that during the previous AIADMK rule, safety protocols in flyover construction were not properly followed, resulting in accidents. In contrast, under the DMK government, advanced safety measures and American technology are employed, especially for curved bridges, significantly improving safety standards.

On the bribery allegations, Velu remarked that he cannot be held responsible for unproven accusations, but action has already been taken against various individuals based on credible complaints. He assured that any evidence-based complaints will be thoroughly investigated and appropriate measures implemented.

Velu also addressed political controversies related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls, pointing out that Chief Minister Stalin does not oppose SIR, unlike some political parties who resist the process citing inconvenient timing.Highlighting the DMK’s commitment to welfare schemes, he said the party attracts members from other parties by focusing on the development of the poor and working diligently to serve the public.

He emphasized that DMK leaders value talent and work irrespective of previous political affiliations. This statement reflects the DMK government’s intent to uphold transparency and quality in public works and governance while addressing political opposition claims.
