Cyclone Montha has brought widespread disruption to Andhra Pradesh and neighboring regions, prompting the India Meteorological Department to issue an orange alert and predict the storm’s intensification into a severe cyclonic storm.As a precaution, railway authorities have cancelled over 65 passenger and express trains across key coastal routes. Flights have also been grounded, with all IndiGo and Air India Express services at Visakhapatnam Airport cancelled for October 28.
National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force are actively deployed for rescue and relief operations.
State authorities have prioritized maintaining power and water supply, with emergency shelters and medical teams on standby. Residents have been urged to stay indoors and heed safety advisories as Cyclone Montha approaches landfall, with expected winds reaching 90–100 kmph and gusts up to 110 kmph.
