The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu has expressed its gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a special Diwali initiative for the state. Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the central government will provide 2.5 million free cooking gas (LPG) connections to households across Tamil Nadu.
State BJP President Nainar Nagendran welcomed the move, saying it would improve the health and well-being of many women by reducing exposure to traditional cooking methods. He added that it would save time and enhance the quality of life for underprivileged families. Nagendran also thanked Prime Minister Modi for this Diwali gift, noting that it comes alongside the government’s ongoing efforts to reform the Goods and Services Tax (GST), which have benefited the public.
