Chennai: The Income Tax Department on Thursday launched massive raids at more than 10 locations linked to Pothys, the well-known textile retail chain, across Tamil Nadu.Raids began early in the morning in major cities including Chennai, Trichy, Madurai, and Tirunelveli. Sources said the action was based on complaints of large-scale tax evasion.
Officials also carried out searches at the residences of Pothys owners Pothi Raja and Ashok, located on East Coast Road in Chennai.
The surprise operation, conducted simultaneously in multiple districts, has created a big stir in business and textile circles across the state.
