Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) President K. Selvaperunthagai has asserted that the INDIA alliance in the state is “as strong as a steel fortress” and based on a shared ideology. He dismissed any speculation about internal conflicts as “daydreams,” emphasizing that the coalition is not one of convenience but is built on common values and a commitment to federalism.
Speaking to the media, Selvaperunthagai stated that no political force can shake the alliance’s foundation. He also accused the BJP-led Union government of neglecting Tamil Nadu, citing a lack of allocated funds and tying basic funding to the acceptance of the National Education Policy. He criticized what he called the BJP’s promotion of caste politics and stated that both the BJP and the AIADMK would face a public backlash in the upcoming elections.
Selvaperunthagai’s remarks came after he paid tribute to actor Sivaji Ganesan’s statue. He reiterated that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, as the leader of the INDIA bloc in Tamil Nadu, is the sole authority on decisions regarding alliance partners.
