Moscow, Aug 21: Russia has said it will continue to supply crude oil to India despite pressure from the United States.
Deputy Trade Representative of Russia to India, Griva, said India will get oil at about a 5% discount. He explained that the exact discount is decided through talks between companies. “Usually it is plus or minus 5%,” he added.
Griva also said that India will keep importing oil from Russia at almost the same level as before.
Russian Deputy Chief of Mission, Roman Babushkin, admitted it is a “challenging situation” for India. But he stressed that Moscow trusts its ties with New Delhi. “We are confident that India-Russia energy cooperation will continue, despite outside pressure,” he said.
The US, however, has accused India of funding the war in Ukraine by buying Russian oil. Washington has also imposed a 50% tariff on India for these purchases.
