Debutant actor Vinoth headlines the upcoming Tamil film Peikathai, directed by Jun Moses, with music composed by Bobo Shashi. Slated for release on August 29, the film promises to be a fun-filled thriller, blending laughter and light-hearted scares, all while steering clear of gore and violence typically associated with the genre.
Speaking about what makes Peikathai stand out in a sea of horror films, the makers say it’s designed purely for entertainment — an ideal watch for audiences of all ages, including children. “We’ve crafted this as a clean thriller-comedy with suspense, minus any bloodshed or disturbing visuals. Even kids can enjoy it as a thrilling experience,” says the team. What adds to the film’s novelty is the use of Virtual Reality (VR) motion technology for an eight-minute segment — a first-of-its-kind attempt in Tamil cinema targeted at enhancing the theatre-going experience. With a fresh screenplay, innovative storytelling techniques, and child-friendly horror elements, Peikathai aims to deliver a wholesome cinematic treat.
