The 14th edition of the Hexaware Dream Runners Half Marathon (DRHM) 2025 was held in Chennai on July 20th, drawing over 7000 runners from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, and Telangana. Themed RIFS – Run Inspire Fuel Strengthen – Every Step Counts, the event promoted fitness, community, and purpose. A major highlight was the all-women Race Management Team led by Zainab Akil, Dr. Gomathy Narasimhan, and Mythili Prasad marking a powerful step forward in inclusivity and leadership. The Dream Runners App, launched for this edition, helped participants track progress, stay motivated, and engage through leaderboards.
The event included two main race categories—21.1 km and 10 km flagged off by dignitaries including Health Minister Thiru Ma Subramanian and senior executives from Hexaware, Wells Fargo, and Reebok. The participant base was diverse: 1100 women runners, super seniors above 70, visually challenged athletes, and amputees with prosthetic limbs joined forces with personnel from the Army, Navy, Coastal Guard, and Tamil Nadu Police. The 10 km race was also officially certified by AIMS, adding global credibility to the event.
Beyond the run, DRHM 2025 focused on impactful initiatives #runclean ensured a litter-free marathon, #sheshouldrun empowered more women through free training, and #runsafe trained volunteers in emergency response. Proceeds from the marathon will fund prosthetic limbs for amputees and compression suits for women affected by burns and domestic violence. Dream Runners, now with 12 active chapters across Chennai, continues to use the power of running to inspire social change—one meaningful step at a time.
