Gaza, July 21:  At least 73 people were killed in Gaza on Sunday while trying to get aid, according to the health ministry in the region.
Most of the deaths happened in northern Gaza. There, 67 people died while trying to reach aid near the Zikim crossing with Israel.
Hospitals said more than 150 people were hurt. Some are in critical condition.
It is not yet clear who caused the deaths. Some reports say the Israeli army may have fired at the crowd. Others believe armed gangs could also be involved.
These killings did not happen near official aid points run by the Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF). The GHF is backed by the US and Israel and gives food to Palestinians.
Witnesses and health workers say many people have been shot while trying to get aid from GHF areas in the past.
The Israeli army has not given any statement about Sunday’s incident yet.
