London,  July 18: India’s middle-order batter Karun Nair is facing pressure ahead of the fourth Test against England in Manchester. Despite making a return to the Test side after eight years, Nair has not been able to make a big score so far on the tour. In six innings, he has shown promise but has failed to convert his starts into meaningful contributions.
In the second innings at Lord’s, Nair was dismissed for a low score after misjudging a delivery from Brydon Carse. With India trailing 1–2 in the five-match series, team selectors are likely to consider changes. Experts believe that his spot at number three could be taken by youngster B Sai Sudharsan.
Former cricketer Deep Dasgupta has suggested that India should give Sudharsan a chance, as the young left-hander has shown potential earlier in the series. If a change is made, it is expected that this would be the only alteration to the playing XI for the crucial Manchester Test starting July 23.
