Bun Butter Jam – Review

Spread the love

Enjoyable rom-com
With Tamil cinema embracing romantic comedies in droves, Bun Butter Jam joins the pack as Bigg Boss Raju’s debut feature—a feel-good film that balances laughs, love, and a touch of introspection.
The story follows a simple premise: a young man, his best friend, and his girlfriend navigating love and life. The film’s first half breezes through with charming romantic moments and a fair dose of situational comedy. Raju makes a confident debut, and his boy-next-door appeal helps in grounding the film’s light tone. Director Raghav Mirdath peppers the narrative with consistent humour, although it never quite delivers big laugh-out-loud scenes.
Where Bun Butter Jam takes a turn is in the second half, where it sheds some of its playfulness for a more focused, mature outlook on relationships and choices. The shift is welcome, but the pacing begins to lag here and there. With a runtime of 147 minutes, the film would have benefitted from tighter editing, especially in some of the slower portions.
Despite its minor drawbacks, Bun Butter Jam is a pleasant watch, especially for those looking for a casual, feel-good movie experience. It may not reinvent the rom-com wheel, but it delivers enough sweetness and substance to keep you engaged.
