In a shocking development, the Madras High Court has ordered the arrest of ADGP H.M. Jayaraman, a high-ranking police officer in Tamil Nadu.
The order came during a hearing related to a kidnapping case involving a 14-year-old boy. The court said Jayaraman’s official police vehicle was used during the kidnapping, and his role needed to be investigated seriously.
The case is connected to Poovai Jagan Moorthy, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), who had applied for anticipatory bail. The judge, Justice P. Velmurugan, strongly criticised the MLA, saying he should not misuse power and must cooperate with the police.
Jayaraman, who came to court, was immediately arrested on the court premises by Tamil Nadu police.
The case will next be heard on June 26, 2025.
