Senior BJP leader and former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has stated that the views expressed by former Tamil Nadu BJP chief K. Annamalai on the AIADMK alliance are his personal opinions, not the official stance of the party.Speaking to the media, Tamilisai said that only the statements made by senior national leaders like Union Home Minister Amit Shah represent the official position of the BJP. She pointed out that Amit Shah had already made it clear that the BJP’s alliance with the AIADMK is still valid, and that must be seen as the party’s final word.
Tamilisai also reminded that in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), the leadership structure changes depending on the state. In Tamil Nadu, she said, AIADMK is the senior partner, and BJP respects that.
She accused opposition parties and some media outlets of twisting Annamalai’s words to create confusion and insisted that internal differences should not be misinterpreted as a breakdown in alliance.
Tamilisai further criticized the DMK government, saying it had failed to fulfill major promises such as cutting electricity bills and giving the ₹100 LPG subsidy. She added that even DMK’s alliance partners are beginning to lose faith in the party’s leadership.
She concluded by mentioning that a recent BJP meeting in Chennai, led by senior leader Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, focused on resolving internal matters and preparing for upcoming elections in Tamil Nadu.
Tamilisai also addressed questions about unity within the BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit. She said that differences of opinion are natural in a democratic party, but the leadership remains strong and committed to the growth of the party in the state. She added that the recent internal meetings were held to strengthen coordination and prepare for the 2026 Assembly elections.
She also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, stating that his vision for development and good governance has earned the trust of people across India. Tamilisai urged party workers to focus on connecting with the public, spreading awareness of central government schemes, and ensuring that the BJP’s message reaches every household in Tamil Nadu.
