Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagendran criticized Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, asserting that Stalin is relying on alliances to secure victory in the upcoming 2026 state elections. Nagendran emphasized that a unified opposition front is essential to unseat the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government.
Addressing the media in Madurai, Nagendran highlighted growing public dissatisfaction with the DMK’s unfulfilled promises from the 2021 elections, particularly the failure to implement a monthly electricity billing system and the imposition of multiple electricity tariff hikes. He remarked that if the DMK cannot fulfill these commitments, the BJP would ensure their implementation after the 2026 elections.
Nagendran also addressed internal dynamics within political alliances. He denied allegations that the BJP is responsible for any rift within the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), urging PMK founder S. Ramadoss and his son Anbumani Ramadoss to remain united within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Regarding the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), he criticized its leader Thol Thirumavalavan for anticipating a split in the BJP-led front, asserting that such a division would not occur and expressing hope that the VCK would exit the alliance.
In addition to political commentary, Nagendran mentioned cultural and economic initiatives. He noted that 175 kilograms of silver have been donated for the Nellaiappar temple car festival in Tirunelveli, with himself contributing one kilogram. He also stated that discussions are underway with the Uttarakhand Chief Minister to procure a new elephant for the temple. Furthermore, he expressed optimism that the Reserve Bank of India’s new gold loan regulations would be implemented without causing difficulties for borrowers.
