A heated scuffle broke out during an AIADMK meeting chaired by MLA KA Sengottaiyan on Wednesday after an individual questioned why he was not invited to the gathering.S. Praveen Kumar, who claimed to be a party functionary from Anthiyur, interrupted the meeting to express his frustration over not receiving an invitation. In response, Sengottaiyan invited him on stage to speak, but the situation quickly escalated into an argument.
Tension rose as other party cadres attempted to restrain him, leading to a minor scuffle. The altercation intensified when chairs were thrown, forcing Praveen Kumar to leave the venue.
Addressing the situation, Sengottaiyan accused former Anthiyur MLA EMR Raja of instigating the disruption, alleging that Praveen Kumar was not even a legitimate member of the party. He also blamed Raja for AIADMK’s defeat in the 2021 Assembly elections in the Anthiyur constituency.
The meeting was attended by prominent AIADMK leaders, including Mettupalayam MLA AK Selvaraj, Bhavanisagar MLA A Bannari, and other party functionaries.
