Tamil Nadu Minister Sekarbabu has urged Opposition Leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami (E.P.S.) to focus on pressing the central government for financial aid instead of criticizing the state government’s flood relief efforts.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Sekarbabu said:

“The central government has only made announcements about providing flood relief. Meanwhile, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has taken swift action by announcing relief measures.

During natural disasters like floods, even if the opposition cannot support the ruling government, they should at least provide constructive suggestions. Chief Minister Stalin is always open to such ideas. However, instead of doing so, the opposition is resorting to conspiracies and baseless allegations.

The opposition leader has not even been able to conduct field assessments properly. His focus remains restricted to Chennai and Salem. He alleges that water from the Sathanur Dam was released without prior notice, which is incorrect. The dam authorities issued prior warnings before releasing 1.68 lakh cusecs of water. This timely action prevented any loss of life and saved many lives.

If E.P.S. had any sense of conscience, he should have thanked the Tamil Nadu government for its efforts in preventing fatalities. Instead, he chooses to criticize.

Rather than indulging in unfounded allegations and political drama, the opposition leader should exert pressure on the central government to secure financial aid for flood relief. Undermining the state government’s efforts is unhelpful and unwarranted,” Sekarbabu stated.
