The Coimbatore South District Secretary of the VCK (Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi) party, Ashok Kumar, has been arrested by the police following allegations of threatening a female IPS officer.

Ashok Kumar, who serves as the District Secretary of VCK in Coimbatore South, was reportedly upset after the police removed two large party banners that had been put up on the Coimbatore-Pollachi North Palaiyam Road two days ago. The banners were reportedly placed by the party without authorization. When the police removed them, Kumar expressed his displeasure.

In response to the removal of the banners, Ashok Kumar allegedly made threatening phone calls to Srishti Singh, the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Pollachi, using inappropriate language. He reportedly threatened her during the conversation regarding the banner issue.

Following the incident, the female officer, Srishti Singh, lodged a formal complaint with the Coimbatore District Surveillance Officer, Karthikeyan, about the threat.

Subsequently, the Pollachi East Police registered a case and arrested Ashok Kumar. The investigation is ongoing.
