The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) convened a district secretaries meeting at the party’s headquarters in Koyambedu, Chennai, led by General Secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth. In this meeting, significant resolutions were passed with a focus on upcoming local body elections and the 2026 state assembly elections.

Key Resolutions Passed:

Appointment of Constituency In-Charges: It was resolved to appoint in-charges for all 234 constituencies to strategize for the local body and 2026 state assembly elections. Election-related work will commence immediately to ensure effective preparation and ground-level engagement.

Commemoration of Vijayakanth’s Remembrance Day: On November 28, party members and the public will gather across Tamil Nadu to pay tribute and reaffirm their commitment on the first remembrance day of party founder Vijayakanth.

Call for Prohibition and Anti-Alcohol Laws: The DMDK urged for the enactment of stringent laws to curb the sale of illicit liquor and the permanent closure of liquor shops, advocating for full-scale prohibition across the state.

Combating Drug-Related Crimes: The meeting highlighted the alarming rise in sexual assaults, murders, and robberies linked to drug abuse. It called on both central and state governments to implement strict measures to curb these crimes through comprehensive legal action.

Preparations for Heavy Rains: In light of the India Meteorological Department’s warning of heavy rainfall in Chennai and other districts in December, the DMDK emphasized the need for the state government to devise immediate and effective plans to manage roads and traffic efficiently to prevent disruptions.
