The Cyber Crime Cell of the Greater Chennai Police (GCP) has registered a case against YouTuber Felix Gerald and former Tamil Nadu police officer Muthu Guna for allegedly spreading misinformation about the GCP through a video interview on the YouTube channel ‘Red Pix Alpha.’
The video, titled “Shocking truth behind police encounter deaths – former police officer confession,” features Muthu Guna making false, objectionable, and derogatory comments about the police, including spreading misleading information about the GCP.
After the social media cell of the GCP flagged the video, the cyber crime unit took action and booked both Felix Gerald and Muthu Guna. They face charges under multiple sections of the law, including Section 192 (provocation with intent to cause riot), Section 353 (1) (b) (publishing false information likely to cause public alarm), and Section 353 (2) (publishing false information through electronic means).
Additionally, the Cyber Crime Cell has written to the Superintendent of Police in Tiruchy to investigate if Muthu Guna violated any bail conditions from a previous case under which he was jailed in Tiruchy district.
