Chief Minister M.K. Stalin took to social media to express his solidarity with sanitation workers, stating, “I will always stand as a frontline warrior with the sanitation workers.” This comes in the wake of heavy rainfall that has inundated several parts of Chennai, with waterlogging and flooding in various areas. The city witnessed continuous rains from last night, affecting neighborhoods such as Kodambakkam, Nungambakkam, Adyar, Saidapet, and Guindy.
The heavy rains have caused water to overflow on roads, leading to the closure of five underpasses in the city. The Chief Minister reviewed the precautionary measures and instructed ministers and officials to ensure swift action to prevent waterlogging and minimize damage caused by the rains. Stalin advised officials to implement necessary measures to avoid water stagnation in critical areas.
In Perambur, Chennai, the Chief Minister personally inspected flood-hit areas. During his visit, Stalin interacted with sanitation workers involved in relief efforts, inquiring about the ongoing work. In a gesture of solidarity, he served tea and biscuits to the workers while engaging in conversation with them.
On his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), CM Stalin posted: “In facing natural disasters such as heavy rains, without regard for time or self-interest, our sanitation workers, corporation employees, and officials tirelessly work to alleviate the suffering of the people. I will always stand as a frontline warrior with them.”
Following his review of Perambur, Stalin also visited the flood-prone area of Yanaikavuni in Chennai to inspect the rescue and canal restoration operations being conducted. He was accompanied by Ministers K.N. Nehru, Sekar Babu, and Chennai Mayor R. Priya.
