The Thirukkudai Utsavam, organized by the Hindu Dharmartha Samiti (HDS), is poised to take place in Chennai on October 2 at 10 AM, commencing from the Sri Chenna Kesava Perumal Temple. This year’s celebration will showcase eleven ornate decorative umbrellas as part of the annual Brahmotsavam procession dedicated to Tirupati.
The Thirukkudai Utsavam has a rich heritage, with significant offerings that include a flower garland from Srivilliputhur and silver umbrellas, a practice that has continued for over 250 years. The procession will kick off with special poojas at the temple, marking the beginning of this auspicious event.
The grand celebration will culminate in the presentation of the decorative umbrellas to officials from the Tirupati Devasthanam on October 7. It is essential to note that offerings meant for Tirupati should not be part of the procession.
The event promises to be a vibrant display of devotion and tradition, drawing the participation of many devotees in Chennai.
