The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning across several parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from September 23 to 29. This prediction follows the observation of an atmospheric circulation over the southern regions of the state, which is likely to bring wet weather to many areas.

The weather department noted that the sky will remain partially cloudy over the next 24 hours. In Chennai, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected in a few areas, with the maximum temperature likely to hover around 35 degrees Celsius.

In addition to rainfall predictions, the RMC has issued an advisory for fishermen, warning them against venturing into the Gulf of Mannar, Southeast coastal areas, and the sea around Kanniyakumari until September 27. Wind speeds of 35 to 45 kmph, with occasional gusts reaching up to 55 kmph, are expected in these regions, posing a risk to maritime activities.

Residents are urged to stay updated with weather alerts and take necessary precautions, especially in coastal areas and regions likely to experience thunderstorms.
