Chennai: Following an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Mohammed Saleem, the brother of Jaffer Sadiq, was presented before the Principal Sessions Court in Chennai. The court has ordered his remand in judicial custody until September 3.
Mohammed Saleem was arrested by the ED on August 12 in connection with a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The ED had filed a petition in the Principal Sessions Court, seeking 15 days of custody to interrogate Mohammed Saleem. Judge S. Alli had initially granted the ED seven days of custody for questioning.
After the completion of ED custody, Mohammed Saleem was produced before Judge S. Alli yesterday. Since the ED did not request an extension of custody, the judge ordered that Mohammed Saleem be placed in judicial custody until September 3.
