Washington, Aug 22: Former US President Bill Clinton on Wednesday (local time) said that the country faced a “clear choice” between Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and former president and her Republican opponent Donald Trump, while referring him as the “other guy”. Clinton accused Trump for “creating chaos” during his presidency, saying he “curates it”.
Delivering a speech at the Democratic National Convention, Clinton, who was the president from 1993 to 2001, praised Harris and said she would make sure that every American would get a chance to “chase their dreams”.
“In 2024, we got a pretty clear choice, it seems to me. Kamala Harris, for the people, and the other guy, who has proved even more than the first go-around that he’s about me, myself and I,” Clinton said while referring to Trump.
“Kamala Harris will work to solve our problems, seize our opportunities, ease our fears, and make sure every single American, however they vote, has a chance to chase their dreams,” he added.
However, Clinton warned Democrats that they should not be “overconfident” and said one should never underestimate your opponent, adding that they should be tough to handle any situation that goes against them.
“One of the reasons that president-to-be Harris is doing so well is that we’re all so happy,” he adds. “But you should never underestimate your opponent,” he was quoted by BBC as saying.
Asserting that the Trump campaign are experts at sowing doubt, Clinton said, “We’ve got to be tough. I urge you to talk to all of your neighbours. I urge you to meet people where they are.”
