Mayaputhagam follows the journey of Muruga Ashok, an aspiring film director, who seeks guidance from a renowned sage to achieve his dreams. Following the sage’s advice, Ashok approaches a producer, Ilavarasu, who instructs him to visit a bungalow in Megamalai and read a specific book there before starting the film shoot. Upon reaching the bungalow with his friends, Ashok encounters strange occurrences, including a photograph of a queen-like woman named Aparnathi and the presence of a 20-foot-long snake. The bungalow is also the site of various supernatural events.
