In preparation for the upcoming Vikravandi by-election on July 10, the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) has established an 18-member poll committee to assist the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) candidate, ‘Anniyur’ A. Siva. The announcement was made by TNCC president K. Selvaperunthagai.
The committee includes notable figures such as former TNCC presidents K.V. Thangkabalu, EVKS Elangovan, M. Krishnasamy, Su. Thirunavukkarasar, and K.S. Alagiri, as well as Congress legislature party leader S. Rajesh Kumar. The team will work diligently to ensure the DMK candidate’s success in the by-poll.
The committee also features new MP-elect R. Sudha from Mayiladuthurai and incumbent Cuddalore MP Dr. M.K. Vishnuprasad. The formation of this committee follows closely on the heels of the Congress state general council meeting, which stirred significant activity within the state’s political landscape.
The ruling DMK has already mobilized its resources, setting up a committee of twelve leaders, including eight ministers, to oversee the election efforts in Vikravandi. The collaboration between the TNCC and DMK highlights the strategic partnership aimed at consolidating their electoral strength in the region.
