Senior AIADMK leader and former minister D Jayakumar expressed strong confidence that his party would outperform the exit poll predictions for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Jayakumar asserted that the AIADMK would secure more seats than forecasted, despite exit polls suggesting a modest performance.Exit Poll Predictions Challenged
Speaking to the media on Sunday, Jayakumar dismissed the exit polls that placed the AIADMK in third place, predicting it would win only one or two seats. He stated, “Our party will debunk the exit polls and it will win more seats in the LS polls.”
Some exit polls have suggested that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would fare better than the AIADMK in Tamil Nadu, securing more than 21% of the votes and winning three to four seats. These projections have placed the AIADMK behind both the BJP and the leading opposition parties.
Jayakumar emphasized that the AIADMK’s primary focus remains on the welfare of the people of Tamil Nadu, regardless of which party forms the government at the Centre. He reiterated that the AIADMK would continue to reflect the thoughts and voices of the Tamil Nadu people in Parliament, maintaining their commitment to state welfare over political affiliations.
In his address, Jayakumar also criticized Chief Minister M K Stalin for his alleged lack of awareness regarding his administration’s actions. He pointed out a recent incident where a police officer was suspended a day before his retirement, a decision that was later revoked. The Madras High Court had previously issued a directive against suspending government employees on or before the day of their retirement.
“Without knowing the HC order, the home department had issued an order placing a police officer on suspension a day before his retirement. But the order has been repealed shortly,” Jayakumar remarked, adding that this incident highlighted the CM’s ignorance about the actions within his own jurisdiction.
