As the iconic Tamil film “Ghilli” celebrates its 20th anniversary, fans of Vijay, Trisha, and Prakash Raj are in for a treat as the makers have announced a special re-release with a new trailer cut.
Originally hitting the screens on April 17, 2004, “Ghilli” swiftly became a commercial juggernaut, captivating audiences with its compelling storyline and dynamic performances.
On April 20, 2024, “Ghilli” is set to make a global comeback, allowing fans to relive the magic of this timeless classic on the big screen once again.
The film revolves around the journey of Saravana Velu, portrayed by Vijay, who sets aside his academic pursuits to pursue his passion for Kabaddi. However, his life takes a dramatic turn when he becomes entangled in the affairs of Muthupandi, a notorious gangster played by Prakash Raj. Adding to the complexity is Dhanalakshmi, portrayed by Trisha, whose affections become a point of contention between Saravana Velu and Muthupandi.
Originally a remake of the Telugu film “Okkadu” (2003), starring Mahesh Babu and Bhumika, “Ghilli” not only surpassed the success of its predecessor but also inspired remakes in multiple languages.
