In a bold stance against the rising menace of drug trafficking in Tamil Nadu, BJP state president K Annamalai issued a fervent call to action, urging the public to reject both drugs and the Dravidian parties. Leading a protest against the DMK government and the alarming increase in drug trafficking, Annamalai emphasized the urgent need for collective efforts to combat this pressing issue.Addressing the gathering at Valluvar Kottam, Annamalai highlighted the pervasive nature of drug trafficking, lamenting that even school students are being ensnared by the menace. He cited recent incidents of students being found in possession of alcohol, underscoring the detrimental impact of intoxicants like beer and ganja on youth behavior and academic environments. Promising decisive action, Annamalai asserted that the BJP, upon assuming power in the state, will prioritize tackling the drug crisis head-on.
Calling for widespread awareness campaigns, Annamalai announced a dedicated initiative by BJP cadre to combat drug trafficking, spanning from March 13 to 19. During this period, party members will dedicate 15 hours each towards the cause, demonstrating the party’s commitment to eradicating the scourge of drugs from Tamil Nadu.
Annamalai underscored a crucial aspect of the drug problem, suggesting that the closure of Tasmac, the state-run liquor outlets, is essential for curbing the circulation of ganja. Additionally, he announced plans to open toddy shops upon the BJP’s ascension to power in Tamil Nadu, positioning these measures as part of a comprehensive strategy to address substance abuse issues.
In a pointed critique directed at the AIADMK, the BJP leader ridiculed the party’s protest tactics against the ruling DMK government, characterizing their actions as ineffectual and farcical. Annamalai urged the public to reject both drugs and the Dravidian parties, signaling a broader political narrative aimed at challenging the entrenched dominance of the traditional Dravidian political landscape.
