Celebrated music composer Santhosh Narayanan recently took to his official X handle to shed light on an unsettling revelation concerning his popular single ‘Enjoy Enjaami.’ As the song commemorates its third anniversary since release, Narayanan disclosed that neither he nor any of the artists involved received remuneration from the label for their contributions to the track.
‘Enjoy Enjaami,’ released in 2021 under the Majja music label, quickly rose to prominence, captivating audiences with its captivating melody and poignant lyrics. Composed by Santhosh Narayanan, the song featured vocals by Dhee and Arivu, both of whom also appeared in the accompanying music video. The track’s narrative drew inspiration from Arivu’s grandmother’s life story, highlighting her journey from poverty-stricken beginnings to relocating to Sri Lanka.
In a candid video shared on his social media platform, Narayanan expressed his disappointment over the lack of compensation for the artists involved in the creation of ‘Enjoy Enjaami.’ Despite repeated attempts to address the issue with the label and other stakeholders, including internationally renowned artists, Narayanan revealed that all efforts to resolve the matter had been futile.
As a result of this disheartening experience, Narayanan announced his intention to establish his own music label. Emphasizing his commitment to supporting independent artists, he vowed to provide a platform where creators can showcase their work and receive fair remuneration for their contributions. Addressing fellow indie artists directly, Narayanan reassured them of his support, promising to ensure that their dues are cleared and their talents duly recognized.
Furthermore, Narayanan raised additional concerns regarding the alleged theft of his YouTube channel, which has reportedly been generating revenue without his consent.
