During the current Parliament Budget Session, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented a ‘White Paper on the Indian economy’. This document talks about how things were not managed well during the time the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) was in power before 2014.Nirmala Sitharaman shared the White Paper in both English and Hindi. It lists the mistakes made by the UPA government and also mentions the actions taken by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government to fix those mistakes.

The White Paper released by the government aims to show how the economy was during the years when the Congress-led UPA was in charge. The White Paper says that when the current NDA government took over in 2014, the economy was in a very bad condition. There were problems with public finances, there was mismanagement in the economy, and corruption was widespread. It was like a crisis situation.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday released a ‘black paper’ against the Centre’s much-talked-about ‘white paper’. Congress’s ‘Black Paper’ focuses on the 10-year governance tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government. He added, “There is discrimination being done with non-BJP states like Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana…” The ‘black paper’ highlights the ‘failures’ of the Narendra Modi government in relation to unemployment, inflation and farmers’ distress, Kharge said.
