In a spirited address during his “En Mann, En Makkal” padayatra in Tirupattur, BJP Tamil Nadu President K. Annamalai took a firm stand against caste politics, asserting that such practices contradict the principles followed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Annamalai highlighted the reliance on caste-based politics by Dravidian parties in Tamil Nadu, emphasizing that the BJP, under Modi’s leadership, rejects this approach as a hindrance to development. Addressing the gathering, Annamalai underscored that many Dravidian parties in the state have built their foundations on caste politics, with leaders often referring to their cadres and local functionaries by their caste surnames. In contrast, he emphasized that the BJP, guided by Modi’s principles, firmly rejects the notion of caste politics, viewing it as an impediment to progress and development. The BJP leader outlined four ideological differences between the Dravidian political parties and the BJP, with caste politics being the primary point of contention. Annamalai argued that the BJP’s commitment to a caste-neutral approach aligns with its vision for a more inclusive and development-focused political landscape in Tamil Nadu. Dynastic politics emerged as the second factor differentiating the BJP from Dravidian parties, according to Annamalai. He criticided the dynastic practices within the DMK, stating that the phenomenon extends beyond the family members of the late DMK patriarch, M. Karunanidhi.
