In a scathing critique of the ruling DMK’s stance against the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), Union Minister of State L Murugan asserted on Sunday that the people of Tamil Nadu are skeptical of the anti-NEET narrative propagated by Chief Minister M K Stalin and his son Udhayanidhi. Murugan expressed confidence that the upcoming parliamentary elections would serve as a platform to educate the electorate on the realities surrounding NEET. Highlighting the legal constraints surrounding NEET, Murugan emphasized that neither the Central government nor the State government can take action without a Supreme Court order on the pending NEET case. He accused Stalin of misleading the public during the election campaign, asserting that despite promises to scrap NEET, the Chief Minister is now leading a signature movement, raising questions about the intended recipients of these signatures. In a pointed statement, Murugan challenged Stalin, asking whether the signatures collected would be handed over to the Central government, the Governor, or the Supreme Court. He underscored Stalin’s inability to argue effectively in the Supreme Court and failure to convince alliance partners within the INDIA bloc on the matter of NEET exemption. Addressing the recent signature movement orchestrated by Stalin, Murugan characterized the anti-NEET stand as a mere theatrical performance. He argued that the people of Tamil Nadu, now understanding the intricacies of the NEET issue, see through what he termed as a day drama orchestrated by the ruling party. Furthermore, Murugan questioned the fairness of Stalin’s attempt to provoke the people of Tamil Nadu, especially considering his inability to persuade alliance leaders on the NEET exemption. The former state BJP president concluded by reinforcing the perception that the anti-NEET position taken by the DMK is a calculated political move, attempting to mislead the public.
