Seeman, the leader of the Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), revealed that his party has decided to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections independently. Addressing reporters in Salem, he emphasised the NTK’s commitment to forging alliances solely with the people and their distinct principles. Notably, the party had even turned down a potential alliance with the AIADMK, citing differences in their core ideologies. Seeman’s assertion that the NTK would contest alone underscores the party’s determination to chart its own path and stand by its principles. This move reflects a broader trend in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape, where regional parties are increasingly asserting their independence and looking to connect directly with voters. One of the striking statements made by Seeman was his prediction that Prime Minister Narendra Modi might not contest in the Lok Sabha polls. In a daring challenge, he pledged to contest against the Prime Minister if Modi does decide to enter the electoral fray. This statement adds an intriguing dimension to the upcoming elections and showcases the NTK’s willingness to take on powerful opponents. Seeman also weighed in on the long-standing Cauvery water dispute, asserting that the DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) should have broken away from the ‘INDIA’ bloc due to Karnataka Congress’s alleged denial of water to Tamil Nadu. The Cauvery issue has been a contentious one, and Seeman’s comments reflect the persistent regional concerns surrounding water resources. Furthermore, Seeman expressed confidence that the NTK could form a government in the near future. He voiced concerns about the ongoing assault on Tamil Nadu fishermen by Sri Lanka and criticized both the state and central governments for their perceived inaction on this issue. The protection of Tamil Nadu fishermen is a matter of great significance for the state, and Seeman’s stance resonates with the sentiments of many.
