Former Chief Minister and general secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), Edappadi K. Palaniswami, made a significant announcement during the celebration of the AIADMK’s 52nd founding day. He declared that his party is gearing up to lead a grand alliance for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and aims to secure victory in all 40 seats, including the lone Puducherry seat. Palaniswami’s vision for the future reflects the party’s determination to regain political prominence.Palaniswami, who hoisted the AIADMK flag at the party headquarters in Chennai during the celebrations, expressed confidence in his party’s ability to make a strong comeback. He claimed that people are disillusioned with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), which is currently in power, and that the AIADMK is poised to return to office in 2026. This statement underscores the AIADMK’s resolve to regain the trust of the electorate.
In a notable strategic move, Palaniswami emphasised that the AIADMK would not form an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for both the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the 2026 assembly elections.
Palaniswami’s announcement of leading a grand alliance for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections signals the AIADMK’s intention to collaborate with like-minded parties to present a united front against its political rivals.
