Annamalai, the president of the Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is gearing up to recommence the third phase of his “En Mann En Makkal” (My Land, My People) yatra from Avinashi in Tiruppur district. This yatra is a significant political initiative aimed at addressing issues with sitting Members of Parliament (MPs) in the state.
The yatra’s third phase is set to kick off today, with a notable inauguration ceremony. Union Minister for Commerce, Industry, Textiles, Consumer Affairs, and Food and Public Distribution, Piyush Goyal, will be present to inaugurate the yatra alongside Annamalai and other dignitaries.
Amar Prasad Reddy, Co-In-Charge of the yatra, provided a detailed schedule of the upcoming leg of the journey. Annamalai is expected to resume the yatra on October 16 from Avinashi. On the same day, he will also cover Mettupalayam. The following days will see him visiting various towns in the region, including Bhavani, Anthiyur, Bhavanisagar, Gobichettipalayam, Palladam, and Sulur. By October 20, he will enter Tiruppur town.
Notably, the yatra will observe a break from October 21 to 24 in observance of Pooja holidays. However, it will resume on October 25 at Perundurai, and by November 6, the third phase of the yatra is set to conclude at Lalgudi, covering nearly seven districts in total.
Originally, the yatra was scheduled to recommence on October 6, but due to Annamalai’s prior commitments in Delhi and his health concerns, the starting date was postponed to October 16.
“En Mann En Makkal” yatra has been a prominent and ambitious effort by K. Annamalai and the Tamil Nadu BJP to connect with the people and address the concerns and issues faced by the state’s residents.
