Deputy Inspector General of Police (Coimbatore range) C Vijayakumar shot himself dead at his camp office in the Race Course area in Tamil Nadu on Friday morning. According to reports, he shot himself with his service pistol.

The body was sent to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for postmortem. Further inquiries were on.Vijayakumar took charge as the DIG of police, Coimbatore range, on January 6, 2023. He replaced MS Muthusamy who was transferred and posted as DIG, Vellore range.
