After the Madras High Court gave its nod for holding General Council Meet, the much-awaited meet began today. EPS was elected as interim general secretary of AIADMK at the meeting. It was also announced ta election would be held in four months time to elect permanent general secretary of the party.

Former Minister D Jayakumar said at the meeting that EPS is the single leader of AIADMK. The whole party will function under him, he added.

Former Minister Uthayakumar said, ‘Edappadi K Palaniswami should be appointed as temporary general.secretary of the party. The entire general council and leaders of the party stand behind him. Specifics changes have been made in the by-laws to elect him’.

The general council passed resolution approving EPS as the single leader amidst applause from.the cadres gathered at the meeting venue.
