The death toll in Tirunelveli quarry rockslide mishap has gone up.  Lorry cleaner Murugan is said to have succumbed to his injuries.
A huge boulder rolled down a private stone quarry 300 feet below triggering a rockslide at Adaimithippankulam on Saturday night.
District collector V Vishnu, DIG Tirunelveli range Pravesh Kumar and Tirunelveli SP P Saravanan supervised the rescue. The collector said the landslide was cause of the the accident. Chief Minister M K Stalin announced a compensation of Rs one lakh each to the injured workers.
A National Disaster Response Force team comprising 30 personnel were involved in rescue operations.
