Chennai : The severe cyclonic storm Asani, that is barrelling across the Bay of Bengal, brought rain to the city and offered respite from the searing summer heat. 

Office-goers were put to hardships as sudden downpour altered their plans. The early morning rain across the city brought joy to many for they were troubled by soaring mercury during kathiri veyyil days.

Speaking to News Today, Kannan, a senior citizen, said, ‘It is surprising to see heavy downpour during this part of the year. We welcome it. We were battling heat wave and now comes the sudden downpour’.
