Chennai: Veteran Tamil actor Chakravarthy (62) passed away due to cardiac arrest in Mumbai in the wee hours of today.

He is survived by his wife and two sons. Chakravarthy had acted in over 80 films and shared the screen with legends like Sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.

Chakravarthy’s performance in ‘Rishimoolam’ with Sivaji Ganesan is remembered by fans even today. After he chose to quit acting, he settled in Mumbai and was giving voice-over in Tamil for a prominent sports channel. This morning he developed cardiac arrest in sleep and breathed his last.

A member of Nadigar Sangam, Chakravarthy had acted in stage plays too. His cremation will take place later today.
