New Delhi: India recorded 1247 fresh Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours, registering a drop of nearly 43 per cent from yesterday.

The country logged 2,183 new coronavirus infections yesterday, an 89.8 per cent jump from Sunday’s case count of 1,150 cases. The massive jump raised the fears of another spike in infections.

Delhi’s Covid-19 positivity rate on Monday jumped to 7.72 per cent as the city recorded 501 fresh cases, 16 less than the previous day, according to health department data. Officials said that last time the positivity rate was above seven per cent in the city on 29 January (7.4 per cent) and on 28 January (8.6 per cent).

Meanwhile, IMF MD K Georgieva has congratulated India on its successful vaccination programme to control the spread of Covid-19. She also appreciated India for extending Covid relief support to other vulnerable countries.
