Srinagar: Police along with security forces today claimed to have killed a local LeT militant in a gunfight in Sirhama area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar, said Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Nisar Dar was killed in an encounter in Sirhama area of Anantnag district.

The top police official said the search is still going on in the area to get hold of the hiding militants.
Earlier, a joint team of the police and security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation on the basis of specific information about the presence of terrorists.

The search operation turned into an encounter after the hiding militants fired upon the security forces, who retaliated.
