Chennai: Petrol and diesel prices were today hiked by 80 paise a litre each, taking the total increase in rates in the last two weeks to Rs 9.20 per litre.

This is the 13th hike in 15 days. In Chennai, a litre petrol is now being sold at Rs 110.14, and diesel at Rs 100.22. The price of petrol in Delhi was pegged at Rs 104.61 per litre while diesel was priced Rs 95.87 per litre, respectively.

Rates have been increased across the country and vary from state to state depending upon the incidence of local taxation.

This is the 13th rise in fuel prices in nearly two weeks since the ending of a four-and-half-month-long hiatus in rate revision on 22 March.

Meanwhile, the All India Unorganised Workers and Employees Congress on Monday organised a protest against the government over the steep rise in prices of petrol and diesel.
