Chennai: Tamilnadu Governor R N Ravi visited Coimbatore Thursday and met officials of District Sainik Welfare Board and Ex-Servicemen.

He interacted with Ex-Servicemen and enquired about their welfare. In his interaction, the Governor remembered the selfless services rendered by the Ex-Servicemen for the Nation.

According to a Raj Bhavan release, he advised them to create a social media group among the Ex-servicemen of the districts so that they could communicate and help each other as a family. The social media groups may be created at Taluk level or at District level.

He remembered the services of the soldiers of the Indian Defence Forces and suggested an idea to construct a Martyr’s memorial for our soldiers who made ultimate sacrifices at Coimbatore.

‘The Nation cannot forget them. The District Administration may find the land requirement for the same.’

He also suggested to have some memorials in the schools of the martyr’s villages, which will inspire the students with a sense of pride and duty.
