Chennai: Tamilnadu continued to report over 10,000 daily Covid-19 cases for the second consecutive day on Sunday as 12,895 infections were added to its tally, which touched 28,00,286 while 12 more deaths mounted the toll to 36,855.

A total of 51,335 persons are under treatment, and the total number of persons infected so far stands at 28,00,286.

In Chennai, 6,186 persons were found to have been infected, and the number of active cases stood at 25,798. In Chengalpattu, 1,512 persons were infected.

Tiruvallur reported 702 cases. In Madurai, 348 cases were detected. Kancheepuram reported 343 cases.

A total of 1,48,308 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, pushing the cumulative number of specimens examined to 5.85 crore.

As many as 1,808 persons were discharged, and the total number of recovered patients went up to 27,12,096.
