Chennai: Tamilnadu Health Minister M Subramanian has refuted BJP member Khushboo’s charge that the government had wasted five lakh doses.
“It was under the previous regime that over three lakh doses, approximately 6 per cent of the vaccines, were wasted. This government trained nurses in administering vaccines, which resulted in over seven lakh doses being saved in the past two months,” he said.
Subramanian further said the government has advised district collectors of popular pilgrimage centres to ensure that all the people in the region were fully vaccinated by the month-end.
He said the initiative to vaccinate all those living in popular pilgrimage centres and tourist destinations follows the government’s earlier measures to focus on segments of people like lactating mothers, disabled persons and traders.
