Chennai: Rela Hospital in Chennai has posted 99.2 per cent patient survival rate from liver transplant surgeries performed since the beginning of the pandemic.

A press release said, over 120 liver transplants were performed at Rela Hospital since the beginning of Covid-19, with 99.2 per cent success ratio.

According to Dr Mohamed Rela, chairman, “Globally, the survival rates for liver transplantation averages around 90 per cent, however our survival is much higher compared to global standard.”

This success is the outcome of work done by the team of surgeons and physicians, liver specific anaesthetist, intensivist, nursing and support staff coupled with cutting edge technology such as robotics and laparoscopy surgery for donors.
