Chennai: Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, has expressed his condolences on the passing away of Dr V Shanta, chairperson, Cancer Institute (WIA), Adyar, on Tuesday.

“Dr Shanta was an asset to humanity and will be a role model to many others in the medical field. Her 67 years of dedicated services to the poor and downtrodden, in particular, will be remembered by many for long. She was a selfless and simple person by nature, who was respected and admired by all,” he said.

The Prince of Arcot added: “It will be difficult to fill up the vacuum left by Dr Shanta.”
