Back after a brief exile, Silambarasan is back on big screen. Thanks to filmmaker Suseenthiran, the actor has managed to render an energetic and engafing show. Suseenthiran delivers a perfect rural entertainer.

Unlike the actor’s previous films, there is adequate emotion in the script without compromising on Silambarasan’s signature styles on screen. The movie has Nidhhi Agrewal and Bharathiraja in key roles. Music is by Thaman.

Periyasamy (Bharathiraja) is a happy old man who lives happily with his wife Paapathi (Vinodhini) and their four kids in a small village near Tenkasi. After his wife’s death, Periyasamy raises his kids all alone and helps them lead a better life in the city.

After almost two decades, Periyasamy’s sons and their family members come to their native place during hometown for a month due to Covid-19 outbreak. Eeswaran (Silambarasan), who takes care of Periyasamy, is shocked to know the lives of family members are under threat. How Eeswaran save them the family forms the crux.

Silambarasan is at his best. He lost considerably weight and looks fit and trim. He is good in action and emotional scenes. His lighter moments with Bala Saravanan is good to watch. Bharathiraja is at his best. He plays the role with consummate ease pouring right emotion. Nidhhi Agrewal is a welcome addition to Tamil cinema. She is cute and bubbly. Her body language and expressions deserves a pat. Her onscreen chemistry with Silambarasan is excellent.

Thaman’s music specially his background score sets the pace. Suseenthiran has managed to pack emotional elements yet retain commercial elements well in Eeswaran.

An engaging rural drama, the movie works well thanks to Bharathiraja to Silambarasan.
